THE PROGRAM
In an effort to strengthen the academic cooperation between two universities, we are pleased to announce the Joint Summer Program 2013 at the Faculty of Law, Universität Leipzig, Germany with the theme “Freedom, Property and Property Rights.” The aim of the JSP 2013 is to bring together students and academics from both universities in a forum to exchange ideas and stimulate discussion. The Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya and the Faculty of Law, Universität Leipzig invite students to submit their papers within the theme of “Freedom, Property and Property Rights.” All submitted papers will be reviewed by experts on the field of freedom, property and property rights.
The selected four students’ papers from each university will be presented in the seminar series and group discussion during the Joint Summer Program 2013.
The series of proposed activities of the Joint Summer Program (JSP) 2013 will be divided into two agendas, namely seminar series and group discussion.
THEME AND SUB THEMES
The theme of the JSP 2013 is “Freedom, Property and Property Rights.” Examples of subject areas that can be chosen as sub-themes will include but are not limited to:
1)The Implementation of the Indonesian Constitutional Concept Regarding “the State Control on vital and important production, earth, water, and natural resources”; 2)Who Own the Natural Resources in Indonesia? Between Idea and Reality; 3)Foreign Ownership of Land in Indonesia; 4)The limits of Freedom of Ownership; 5)The limits of Intellectual Property Ownership (Ethics and Moral Justification); 6)Idea of Property in Indonesian Constitution; 7)The concept of Property in the Indonesian Law; 8)Intellectual Property Rights in Internet in Indonesia; 9)Property as a Legal Institution in the Modern State; 10)The Protection of Property in International Law; 11)Intellectual Property in the Indonesian Legal System; 12)Property as a Socio-Cultural Phenomenon.
THE PARTICIPANTS
Up to four students will be selected as the participants to join the Program supported by lecturers from the Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University. The selected participants will receive from the Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University:
1. Round-trip airline ticket
2. Visa application fee
3. Living allowance in Germany during the Program
JSP 2013 REQUIREMENTS AND ELIGIBILITY
The applicants must meet the following requirements:
– Law students of the class of 2008-2011
– Never previously joined student exchange program overseas
– Minimum GPA of 3.00
– At least one year old TOEFL score of min. 500, issued by a recognized institution
– Complete and submit the Agreement form
– Pass the selection process
– Submit paper within the JSP theme in English min. 3000 words, together with the latest academic transcript (legalized), TOEFL score, and Agreement form, no later than 1 April 2013, to the Contact Persons below.

Paper Submission Deadline: 1 April 2013
Selection: Presentation and Interview: 22 April 2013
Acceptance Notification: 30 April 2013
Visa Application: 13 May 2013
Departure to Leipzig: 29 June 2013
