[:en]Cześć! Hello! I’m Azzura Asfariah from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya, batch of 2020. In 2022, I was given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to study abroad at the University of Warsaw, Poland by the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program. Even though my duration there was relatively short, that is only three months and a half, the host university made sure that all of the awardees maximized their time in Poland through various activities they arranged.
Our schedule was almost packed with study trips or government institution visitations. In autumn, we went to Gdańsk where we dropped by the historic spots where World War II took place. Also, we visited the Auswitchz in the winter. Both were very eye-opening experiences, especially for people our age who (thankfully) were not there yet during the events. A feeling of sympathy was felt deeply within ourselves which later grows into a sense of gratitude as we get to live comfortably today due to sacrifices made in the past.
In addition, I studied International Relations during the time spent there. I do not have a single regret for not studying law, instead, I feel the most grateful as I gained a new frame of reference by learning another field of discipline. This is actually what the IISMA program encourages; for students to be multidisciplinary.
It is a privilege to be able to hold such pride that is contributing to building Universitas Brawijaya, particularly the Faculty of Law’s reputation on an international scope. Through the IISMA program, I have developed knowledge and skills academically as well as non-academically which I’m extremely thankful for.
