Monday, August 24th, 2015, Faculty of Law Brawijaya University held a Public Hearing of the Final Examination Dissertation of a doctoral program student, I Wayan Rideng. The open session which was held in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Law was led by Prof.Dr.Sudarsono, SH. MS. The examinator consisted of Prof.Dr.Sudarsono, SH. MS., Prof.Dr.Isrok, SH. MS., Prof. I Putu Gelgel, SH.MH., Dr. Rachmad Safa’at, SH. M.Si., and Dr.Jazim Hamidi, SH., MH. While the Commission composed of Prof. I Nyoman Nurjaya, SH.MS., Prof.Dr. Made Subawa, SH.MS., and Dr. Prija Djatmika, SH. MS.
Born in Padang Buliah, September 20th, 1965 I Wayan was recorded as a 256th doctorate at the Faculty of Law. He was awarded Highly Satisfactory with a GPA of 3.93 within a 5-year study period. His dissertation entitled “The role of the Pakraman Assembly in Dispute Resolution Between Pakraman in Bali” is motivated by the emergence of the issue of protracted legal dispute between Pakraman in Bali, as a result of the dispute is enormous both materially and morally. Since it is very difficult to resolve disputes caused by the violation of customs, it is necessary with integrity and trusted by villagers, namely Pakraman Assembly, which is the result of an initiative of the entire Pakraman in Bali. Some conclusions in this dissertation is that the Pakraman Assembly in the context of the settlement of disputes between Pakraman in Bali is as a mediator, while the role of local governments both provincial and district is facilitated to the existence of the Pakraman Assembly by providing budget support operations and other support infrastructure facilities.
The final examination dissertation, which was attended by family and more than 100 invited guests went smoothly, and I Wayan managed to answer the questions posed by convincing the board of examiners. Once the exam is over, the guests congratulated him and family.
