Academic Guidance

For the Master of Notary, the charge of the study load is 52 credits, consist of:

  1. 7 (seven) credits of university’s compulsory subject;
  2. 33 (thirty three) credits compulsory subject of study programs;
  3. 12 (twelve) credits of thesis preparation.

Lecturing activities carried out within three semesters. The research design of the thesis can be submitted in semester 2, followed by research in semester 3 and/ or 4. Thus the study completion time is four semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.

Remidial Class

For students who already took 3 semesters, but if there are courses which they didn’t pass or they have less credits, they given the oportunity to attend remedial classes in 4th semester, with the following conditions:

  1. The grade of the courses proposed for remedial class is minimum D;
  2. Remedial classes held at least 8 times by direct lecturers;
  3. Maximum grade for remedial class is B;
  4. The cost of providing remedial classes defined by the Faculty of Law UB paid by the student.

In the case of students taking remedial class and still not passed, the one concerned must repeat the class in regular class.

Evaluation of Student’s Studies

  1. Students who at the end of the first semester has not reached the Grade Point (IP)= 2.75 for 10 credits semester shall repair their grade;
  2. students who at the end of the second semester has not reached the Grade Point (IP)= 2.75 for 18 credits semester, then the concerned one considered failed and is not allowed to continue their studies;
  3. students at the end of the second academic year must pass all the compulsory courses of the program;
  4. the courses which received a D shall be repeated and the subjects which got a C may be repeated. Repetition for subjects that did not pass can only be done once;
  5. for students who already took 3 semesters, but there are no graduate courses (grades E, D) or pass with a grade of C, given the opportunity to attend classes and exams remedial (remedy class) in semester 4. The grade of remedial lecturers and examination is maximum of B;
  6. for students who have took a minimum of 20 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.75 with no grades of D, the one concerned may submit a thesis research proposal by filling out the form provided.

Examination for Thesis Proposal

  1. Proposal examination can be implemented after the thesis proposal obtained written approval from both of the supervisors.
  2. The panel of thesis proposal examiners consists of four lecturers proposed by the students with the approval of the chairman of the program.
  3. Thesis proposal examination can be held in the presence of at least 3 examiners.
  4. The head of the examiners’ panel  is the main supervisor without having the right of substitution.
  5. When the main supervisor could not attend, the examination will be lead by the supervisor’s assistant.
  6. Each examiners provide an assessment in the form of numbers 0-100 (zero to one hundred).
  7. The passing grades for thesis is minimum 69 (sixty nine) or equivalent to B with the weight of 2 credit.
  8. The thesis proposal which did not fulfill the passing score, must be repaired and tested again.
  9. The result of the test set forth in the Official Report of Thesis Research Proposal Examination.

Thesis Research Seminar

  1. Before the research seminar is held, the research result must obtain an agreement from both of the supervisors and is known by the Head of the Program.
  2. The result of thesis research is made in the format of a scientific article as a condition of attending a seminar research results.
  3. Research seminar was attended by both the Supervisor and at least ten (10) students.
  4. If in certain circumstances one supervisor could not attend, the seminar can be held with just one supervisor attended.
  5. The result of the seminar becomes an input to the enrichment of the substance for the students in writing thesis that will be tested in the thesis examination.
  6. The assessment of research seminar includes text of scientific articles and the result of seminar proces. Supervisor gives the score of the seminar in the form of numbers from 0-100 (zero to one hundred) with a weight of 4 credits.
  7. The result of the research seminar set forth in the Official Report.

Thesis Examination

  1. The examination held after the thesis approved in a written form by both of the supervisors.
  2. The panel of thesis examiners consists of four lecturers proposed by the students with the approval of the chairman of the program.
  3. The panel of thesis examiners set by the Decree of the Dean with the suggestions from the Head of the Chairman.
  4. Thesis Examination may be held by the attendance of at least 3 examiners.
  5. The head of the examiners’ panel is the main supervisor without having the right of substitution.
  6. If the main supervisor is unable to attend the examination, the exam will be lead by the supervisor’s assistant.
  7. The assessment of the thesis examination includes research, the writing and the text of the thesis, and also the ability and capability of the concerned one to hold his thesis.
  8. Each of the examiners gives a score in form of numbers from 0-100 (zero to one hundred).
  9. The passing grades for thesis is minimum 69 (sixty nine) or equivalent to B with the weight of 2 credit.
  10. Thesis which did not fulfill the passing score must be repaired and tested again.
  11. The result of the test set forth in the Official Report of Thesis Examination.
